Feedback thread: Bugs, suggestions ...

Thank you very much for testing GamersGlobal! Here's the place for any suggestions, support requests or other problems you might have. We're also putting information here that we deem not important enough for the front page. From time to time, we'll reset this thread when suggestions have been discussed and problems (hopefully) resolved.

September 24: We've made font sizes a little smaller, which has the effect that a little more content is displayed and most blue headlines in the news section are now one line only. Hope you like it!

August 25, 2008: Reset. The last feedback thread can still be found here.

August 25, 2008: Because gamersglobal.com is extremely popular right now (among Spam Bots, to be precise -- we're talking about more than 2.000 spam comments per day), we've decided today to add a Captcha module for anonymous users when they add a comment. So if you don't want to register, that's fine, you'll only need to prove you're human by entering the four letters shown.

Nothing serious, but your "type in the weird characters" (Captcha) security measure is a pain: I wanted to comment on WoW, but obviously couldn't tell a "l" from a "1" (or was it a "!")? Is it a "Q" or an "O"? So I did not comment at all (hey, it was no world shattering comment, anyway). Please get rid of this again, especially for once-in-a-while visitors like me. Oh no: To post THIS comment, I have to do it all over again :-O

Hi player, I am sorry that you had the problem, but you obviously managed to post the comment :-) The good thing is: If you get the Captcha phrase wrong, you'll automatically get another code, so you should never need more than two tries (and in most cases, just one). Let me explain about why we use Captcha in the first place: In the days before activating the module, we had in excess of 2.000 spam messages per day -- and although you can't see them, they were clogging the admin views, and were slowing things down. We'll try to find other measures without Captcha, though.

Hi mk666, that's important information. Can you tell me what version of Firefox (3.0? older?) you're using? Thank you very much!

I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.16. I can't see the captchas on both Linux & Windows. AdBlock-Plus is installed, but disabled.

mk666, we can't reproduce your problem. For us, the Catchpa works (under Windows) with Internet Explorer 6/7/8, Firefox 2 and 3, Opera 9x and also Chrome. The reason for your problem could result from a Firefox plugin, from Content Blocking or from the module itself. For now, we're sorry but we can't correct this particular problem you've experienced.

Is there a Thread or a Forum for us to help each other when there are problems with the "know how".
I feel very unsecure with some things. For example my news are getting edited, so it seems I'm doing it not quite right.

@ KillyTheBit:
First of all: No, unfortunately there is no forum for us to get help if we have problems.
2nd point: It's actually normal if your news are edited by other users! They just want to improve your article. GamersGlobal users don't only correct grammatical mistakes, but enhance them or even make bigger updates. Everyone edits every news! ... so you're not doing special mistakes.
