So far Ubisoft has made some interesting design decisions in Far Cry 2: an open, non-static world, Stalker-esque missioning, no HUD, weapon durability, and immersive first-person avatar animations. But none of these aforementioned decisions have been as radical as this one: If one of your buddy NPCs (once unlocked, you can call them for support during a mission) get killed, he will not only be permanently unavailable but also "the content associated with that character is no longer available" to you, states Patrick Redding in an interview with VG247. more...

Obviously, Ubisoft has put much effort into making Far Cry 2 a really great looking game. Apparently though, getting the player to feel immersed and connected with his avatar and the game world around him, seems to have played an even greater role when creating Far Cry 2. The newest Far Cry 2 trailer deals with player immersion and how the first person shooter achieves just that in a way never seen before. Ubisoft has announced a free title upgrade for the Xbox 360 and PC version of their first-person shooter Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. Dated for July, the so-called Fan Pack could prove to be interesting not only for veteran gamers.
