Street FighterHow Street Fighter IV Could Rescue Its Genre
Last updated on January 19, 2009 - 21:23.
Back in the times of the first Street and Virtua Fighters the beat ‘em up genre was immensely popular, but the last one-and-a-half decades showed a constant decline of the expiring star of videogames. Even though plenty of new game genres forced their way onto the market and into the homes of players, fighting games are partly responsible for their fall. In the end, they simply became too complicated and time-consuming for beginners. more...

Last updated on December 1, 2008 - 00:44.

Street Fighter IV: "This Winter" on US Shores
Last updated on October 25, 2008 - 09:54.
That Street Fighter IV already runs fabulously on home consoles could be test-played at Germany's GC08 already. But when SFIV would hit western shores had been announced nowhere yet. SFIV producer Yoshi Ono, though, now gave details on the western release of Capcom's newest fighter, which is expected to fix the market abyss that fighting games have fallen into. (Some would even go this far to blame Virtua Fighter for all the allegedly inaccessible complexity that some fighting games have come to.) more...

Capcom denies Street Fighter lead designer to use their license
Last updated on September 24, 2008 - 07:57.
For over three years David Sirlin, currently lead designer and balancer of Street Fighter HD Remix for the Xbox 360, had been working on Yomi, a card game based on the ability to mind-read the opponent (Japanese: yomi). With characters, and moves directly taken from Street Fighter Sirlin's card game could have easily surpassed the obvious limits of its videogame-y counterpart by allowing any kind of player to take up Street Fighter as an easy-to-learn but yet hard-to-master card game. more...

Capcom released and already extended the beta of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (abbreviated SFIITHDR) for the Xbox 360 a while ago. Now, they released a patch for the current beta. This patch didn't only fix broken gameplay elements (you could do more than 3 dragon punches in a row with Ken), but it also introduced a new netcode that improves the overall online experience in laggy situations immensely. more...
