Hellgate: London

Diablo is one of the few, genre defining games in computer games history, spawning many clones, me-toos and iterations over the years. The latest comes from many of the original creators of Diablo 1 and 2: Bill Roper's team at Flagship Studios has brought the addictive gameplay into the third dimension, and also breaks down the barrier between MMOGs and traditional games. Tyler Thompson is the Technical Director for Hellgate: London. Like many employees of Bill Roper’s Flagship Studios, he was working on the Diablo series at Blizzard. We’ve talked to him about the AI of Hellgate, about the storyline and why you can’t switch to 1st person view with some characters.

Their first product is supposed to ship in summer 2007 -- and to beat Diablo 2 in every single aspect.
