Austria —

Ubisoft is undertaking a massive recruitment venture for the next 12 months.
900 employees are wanted in Singapore, India, Canada, China and Romania.

About the half are searched for new studios and the other half for established ones.

Ubisoft states that the gaming industry has some immunity to economic slowdown and that's why they are investing into expansion.

They say they chose countries where the education and therefore the talent pool is great, but it seems like they chose countries where manpower is cheap.
On the other hand, having studios in 19 different countries can attribute to the cultural diversity.

Phlexomance, good news, thank you. One could point out, though, that four of those countries are "cheap labor countries" and one (Canada) heavily supports game developers / publishers with tax cuts, and has come under investigation by the European Community because of that.
