WiiWare launched in Europe

Germany —

WiiWare, Nintendo's Download Distribution system for, well, more casual-like, but still professional games, has started in Europe. It is a new feature of the Wii Shop. The first WiiWare games in Europe are:

  1. Dr. Mario & Gem Buster (1.000)
  2. Final Fantasy – Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (1500 Wii points)
  3. Lost Winds (1.000)
  4. Star Soldier R (800)
  5. Toki Tori (900)
  6. TV Show King (1.000)

Lost Winds is the new game of David Braben's Frontier Studios, see this earlier news. There's also a free demo of Dr. Mario & Gem Buster available to demonstrate the service. If you delete a game after paying and downloading it, you can simply re-download it (on the same Wii console).

Two more games will follow shortly in Europe: Pirates: The Key of Dreams and Pop. The WiiWare service launched in the US on May 12, but Gem Buster, Star Soldier R and Toki Tori are not availabe in the United States, so far.
