Canada Gets PlayStation Store Justice

Canada Gets PlayStation Store Justice

Canada —

Sometimes, it’s not as much fun as I’d like to live in Canada. Never mind the cold – The Canadian dollar has gotten a lot stronger against the American dollar, and that means Canadians are paying a lot more for games and add-ons in the PlayStation Store than our neighbors to the south.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog earlier this month, SCEA senior vice president Peter Dille said Sony was looking into the problem. In a new posting, Grace Chen, senior manager of the PlayStation Store said that Sony will phase in price adjustments for Canadian customers of the PlayStation Store to bring prices more in line with our American counterparts.

I think it's a world wide problem, and not only limited to the PlayStation Store. GTAIV (for the XBox 360) costs 59,99$ in the US and 69,85€ in Europe. (that's currently 107,93$), that's an increase of 80%. Sure there's shipping and taxes, but even an increase of 50% would be an outrage. (BTW: the Canadian price is CDN$ 59.99)
