European Release Date for "Super Smash Bros. Brawl"

Germany —

Nearly every european owner of a Nintendo Wii has been waiting for this a long time, and now the waiting time is nearly over. Nintendo Europe announced the release date for "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" this morning (together with their release schedule for the second quarter of 2008), and it is going to be the 27th of June this year. The game is currently rated with 94 out of 100 points at www.metacritic.com, which makes it the third best rated game for the Nintendo Wii so far.

The "Super Smash Bros."-series originated on the N64, where it had its first installment. In this fighting game, you fight with and against a whole bunch of beloved and sometimes also nearly forgotten Nintendo characters. To win, you have to knock your opponents out of the screen. The second installment was launched for the Nintendo Gamecube in late 2001.

It has already become tradition that European gamers have to wait for those games a lot longer than the American and Japanese audience; "Super Smash. Bros. Melee" for example was not released in Europe before May 2002. History repeats itself, so to speak, because "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" will now also need five months to ship from Japan to Europe.

But, as the Metacritic score implies: It is well worth waiting for. Prepare for brawling.
