Sony Home delayed once moreSony Home delayed once more
Last updated on April 25, 2008 - 03:00.
According to Associated Press, the 3D virtual world PlayStation Home, which will link players together, allow them to engage in mini games or launch into retail games, upload and watch HD video trailers, collect and show off trophies from their PS3 games, and more, will be delayed once more. Originally, the launch was scheduled for Fall 2007, then it moved to first half of 2008. Now, according to AP, the service is once more delayed to "after August". Our picture is from last years' GDC conference, where Home was shown for the first time -- by Sony's Head of Worldwide Studios Phil Harrison (left). Harrison has left the company end of March 2008 to join Infogrames, as president. Sony announced that it plans to expand the current closed beta test this summer, and that PlayStation Home will enter an open beta test this fall. Keep in mind that "fall" continues until the winter solstace on December 21. The fact that Home will only enter open beta toward the end of 2008 is leading many outlets to (sensibly) conclude that Home has been delayed until 2009.
