New feature: Enhanced User ProfileNew feature: Enhanced User Profile
Last updated on April 15, 2008 - 10:55.
I am happy to announce the first result of our recent feedback discussion. From now on, existing and new users can add various (optional) additional information to their user profile, like their hometown, their favourite gaming platform, the games they are playing at the moment, all-time favourites, and so on. Some of the fields are "clickable", so clicking on the country of a user lists other users hailing from that country, clicking on a favourite game shows all users listing the same game. This detail is still very alpha (read: not well formatted at all), and finds only entries with the exact same spelling. You can edit your Personal Information by clicking on "My Account", then on "Edit" and then on "Personal Information". Only fields you fill out will be shown in your profile, so there's no problem at all leaving some fields empty. If you want to see an example, this is my Profile. Of course, you can also click on the Author's name of any news. Hope you like this!

It's nice to see what other
playersusers are currently playing and what they like, but I'd like to have some sort of communication with them.Yeah, a chat would be great!
Hi Player Alpha,
thanks for your idea. But why not register as a user, first? It's free, it's fun, you can write your own news...
Putting the age as a birthdate would be even greater.^^
Cool. I'll see if I can find some time to update my profile this evening.
Same goes for me, I filled out the basic information, but stuff like my favorites games of all times, I have to think hard about that, or else the list would get a bit too long.
Nice new feature, thank you! Although I am surprised that entering data into my profile raises my activity index by - nothing, not even 1%! ;) Just kidding, I don't care at all about my activity percentage.
I agree with Flo: Birthday is better than age (for us who'd have to do neither the programming of the age calculation nor the changing of our age every year).
As of now, the age is not even a number, but simply a text field (oops! Now you know it can put weird stuff in it...). Of course, every user who forgets to adjust his age at least 24 hours after his birthday, will be spotted by the GamersGlobal secret police and will be punished by dedurcting 100 EXP per year of age.
PS: And please include leap years, because my birthday actually IS February 29th, 1972 :P
So you're, what, 9? ;P
Yeah, I'm nine years old - which makes my driver's license illegal, my university degree a miracle and my marriage a crime! ;)
