Nokia has launched its N-Gage mobile games service globally. We all remember the N-Gage as a mobile gaming device, but in recent years Nokia has transitioned that brand name to mean its game service rather than a device, and it is now accessible to all. N-Gage is now an application that can be downloaded to mobile devices (including the Nokia N81, Nokia N81 8GB, Nokia N82, Nokia N95, and Nokia N95 8GB) from this site. The N-Gage application includes friends list functionality, messaging and IM-type chat as well as the ability to access and play games. The initial games available on the service are:
The service expects to shortly add these games, followed soon after by considerably more titles:

Good luck, Nokia, after you've did everything wrong that you could possible do wrong with the launch of the N-Gage 1 (and, to some extent, N-Gage 2). The one thing that speaks for Nokia is the huge number of Mobiles they sell, but the ones capable for N-Gage games are only the more expensive ones, as mentioned in the news...
I'm curious, and since everybody here is a gamer, let me ask this: How many people here actually play games regularly on their cell?
Sure, when I first got my Windows Mobile Device, I installed all kinds of stuff, Game-Demos, Skins, Videoplayers and actually went through the trouble of converting a few of my DVD's to a compatible format, but seriously, after two weeks, I never touched any of these features ever again.
If I would be serious about mobile gaming, I might buy a PSP, or a DS, but I can't imagine to play on my Cell for a prologued period of time.
I have been playing a lot on my PDA, and even took it on our holiday journeys (instead of a laptop). But my Sony Ericsson Touchscreen smartphone (which runs UIQ3/Symbian 9) does not have many good games, so I am largely playing on emulators. There is a very good Sega Megadrive emulator for UIQ3 (PicoDrive), and also, of course, VSCUMM.
thx, I have a copy of SCUMM-Vm on my mobile too, but the only time I really played on that, was when my company sent me away for a few days, I had no net-access and was bored out of my skull.
But I freely admit, Emulators can be a lot of fun.
I don't play on my cell. I put a 1GB Card in it and listen to music - that's enough. If I want to play on long journeys I take my Acer Extensa, which has enough battery for 5 hours, which normally is enough.
