Many game companies put serious effort into their jokes to celebrate April 1. Below are some links to a few of the more entertaining gags:
- Turbine announced the next major content expansion for The Lord of the Rings Online, called The Battle of Amon Hen.
- Turbine also revealed a new feature for Dungeons & Dragons Online Module 7, described as "Pimp My Warforged".
- Blizzard has introduced the Tauren Marine for StarCraft II.
- Blizzard announced that it plans to release Molten Core for consoles. (The concept art and screenshots are particularly enjoyable.)
- In Europe, Blizzard revealed the Bard Hero Class for World of WarCraft.
- Shrapnel Games announced its upcoming game Dominions 4: Succubi In Heat
- NetDevil has changed its name to NetAngel.
- Microsoft has announced four new Xbox-related products, including Xbox Live The Board Game, the Xbox 360 Wireless Helmet, the Xbox 360 Vintage Edition and the Xbox 360 Recon Edition.
- Google seeks Pioneers for a Mars trip (found by bolle)
- ArenaNet changed Guild Wars avatars into stick figures (found by Chris)
- 3D Realms has a new pig cop design for their ongoing April's Fool joke Duke Nukem 4
- NC Soft has invented visual sound effects for PCs without loudspeakers
- Jade Raymond introduces a mix of MGS4 and Assassin's Creed (Erik)
- IGN has a "world exclusive" trailer for the Zelda Movie (Erik)

I really liked the Battle of Amon Hen. Especially the new skill "Eggcellent Assault". ;)
In Guild Wars, all the Level 20 characters were stick figures on April 1. Which looked especially funny when you completed a mission or primary quest and your stick figure showed up in the final video with all the villains and kings... Dancing syncronously with your guild members - all stick figures - was also fun and drew many spectators :D
(Guild Wars has lots of events anyway. They have special items and celebrations for New Year's, Carnival, Easter, St. Patrick's Day, April 1, Helloween, Christmas, and even some special fireworks etc. when high-ranking members of the GW team have anniversaries.)
Was anybody in BNET at April 1st? 2 Years ago, they changed all profile pictures of WC3 into Easter things...

The link for Succubi in Heat (you gotta love that title) seems to have changed. But I guess they just don't have static pages.
Edit: Remembered that I could fix it myself and did do so.
