PlayStation Network Accounts May Have been Hacked

United States —

Sony has posted a “Notice to PlayStation Network Users” on its Consumer Alerts page, notifying users that certain PlayStation Network accounts may have been compromised.

The PlayStation Store (part of the PlayStation Network) allows gamers to download content, typically for the PSP through a PC. Not only does the account include personal information, but such accounts typically have some cash available in a virtual “wallet” available for future purchases.

According to Sony, "it is possible that the passwords of a small percentage of PlayStation Network users may have been changed through unauthorized access, making it possible to view users' personal information and/or use the Wallet for the PlayStation Store."
