Sims 3 Announced for 2009

Germany —

Finally, EA has officially announced The Sims 3 for a 2009 release -- nobody is surprised by the fact itself, of course: 98 million sold copies of the Sims series (including add-ons) speak for themselves.

The most important feature in Sims 3: The game will feature an open neighborhood, where Sims can freely walk to whatever place they want, without "jumping to locations" as in Sims 2. Instead, they can leave the boundaries of their premises at any time.

Rod Humble, who heads the Sims Studios, promises a totally new, deeper personality system which will enable more complex interactions between Sims. Also, he mentions new Goals and award systems.

According to EA, players will be able to send their Sims on a shopping tour with friends, have lunch in Downtown oder visit relatives. As in the two predecessors, players can change nearly everything in the game, from flowers to clothing to interior design.

An interesting new feature is the "Build your own Sim" tool. With this, the looks and bodies of your Sims are no longer limited to a preselected variety, but can be modified from thin to fat, small to big and so on. Even the smallest facial feature can be modified, EA says. Also, you can choose 5 out of 80 character traits for your Sim, creating a nosy, bitter grandma or a choleric punk.

I can’t open theSims2/The Sims3 pages. It seems that the EA-Server is really busy right now…

Well, it was announced for weeks, so I am not surprised :)

But Joerg didn't give up, good Job :)
but don't you want to put a link into the article? I had to google the website..

By becoming more and more complex, the Sims 3 is closer to "the Second Life" somhehow. In the first part, the area of the game was rather small, now it seems that it will be huge. If you like that, is up to you, we'll see if the designers manage to keep things simple - the typical Sims fan won't spend 12 hours in front of their screens - or will they?

I had it on my screen after a few "Refresh-Clicks", so I thought it would be fine now, possible that I'm just lucky...

The constant loading when changing location was always a bother, so only taking those out would imo make the game a lot better. If they improve everything else as much as they did from 1 to 2... pure bliss.

I hope the sysreqs won't increase too much, cause i won't buy another pc for some years. The grapic changes seem to be moderate, so there's some hope. I wish they would do the game for consoles too, without changes.

I also read that one of the changes compared to part 2 will be, that the sims will do a better job in micro-managing themself, so that the users won't need to do the dishes; dress the sim and all that over and over again.
