Londoners might want to pay a visit to Apollo West End theatre between April 30th and May 4th, when SCI-FI-LONDON will take place. According to a press release, this is the UK's only dedicated science fiction and fantastic film festival. Electronic Arts will be the exclusive game sponsor, showcasing various titles. These will not only be shown as trailers on the big screen; attendees can also play them if they manage to get in front of the game screens.

The more interesting games will be C&C 3: Kane's Wrath, Spore and the collaborative effort of Steven Spielberg and Louis Castle, Boom Blox. But what should really fit the setting is EA's space horror game Dead Space, which will be shown as a sneak preview. Dead Space is about the exploration of a deep space mining ship by a single hero. In order to let nothing come between player and scary environments, it has no onscreen menu. Instead, it provides all necessary information (e.g. how long oxygen reserves will last) by sound or by sight. So the "hitpoints" are shown as part of the armor, ammunition supplies as a holograph on top of the weapon (which is really a tool: a laser cutter).

If you live in or near London, the seventh installment of SC-FI-LONDON might be worth the visit.
