United States —

Last week, Funcom posted a new FAQ for its upcoming massively multiplayer online game Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. As part of the FAQ, FunCom confirmed the kind of PC that will be required to run the game.

Certainly the game looks good, but you will have to have a relatively new PC to enjoy it.

The minimum system requirements are:

  1. OS: Windows Vista/XP
  2. Processor: 3GHz Pentium IV
  3. RAM: 1GB RAM
  4. Video Card: Shader Model 2.0 and 128MB RAM: NVIDIA GeForce 5800 or ATI 9800

The recommended system requirements are:

  1. Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz (E6600) or better
  2. Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7950GX2 or better
  3. RAM: 2GB or more

The game looks good? Seriously? When I saw the first videos I though so too, but since I saw it in 1920x1200 (I did not confirm or deny if I'm actually playing it) I think differently. The view-range is nice, but sometimes textures have such a bad resolution, it's indescribable.

BTW: Would like to see the game on a 128MB card, someone should tell these PR-guys that being able to start a game, doesn't mean that one is able to play the game.

All that aside, it's still promising, let's hope it will rock in may.

Three weeks ago, on a top-of-the line system, it looked pretty darn good. The visual style is entirely a matter of taste, but yes... I'd say it looks good. Watching someone attack from on the back of a battle rhino was cool. I was curious how the graphics would look scaled down, but based on the system specs, it doesn't seem like they scale down much.

I think it looks good from a visual point of view, looking over a harbor and seeing mountains in the far back looks good, but from a technical point of view, like shadow 'crisp-ness', texture resolution and performance with a lot going on on the screen, I still see many flaws, but I still hope they are working on that until release.
