Sega announced yesterday, that they will be releasing a new FPS based in the popular Aliens universe, titled Aliens: Colonian Marines. The game is being developed by Gearbox Software, which is a good sign, since they are the people behind games like Counter Strike and the original Halo.

The squad-based gameplay will allow you to control one of four US marines.Gearbox promises that this will be the most scariest and action packed game in the franchise.It will have a story driven single player campaign, based around a team of marines facing an alien assault.The story is being written by Bradley Thompson (Battlestar Galactica)and David Weddle (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), so we can sleep safely knowing the story side aspect is in good hands.

Multiplayer wise, there will be a four player co-op, each player taking on a specific role in the squad. Other multiplayer modes will be announced a later stage.

As for the arsenal of the game - it will be the familiar weapons from the films, like the pulse rifles and flamethrowers, though other weapons and gadgets will be added as well.There will be some sort of a basic skill tree as well as equipment, but the main focus is on the squad-based gameplay.

The game is to hit the stores, sometime in late 2008.Well cant wait for that one.
