Steve Sullivan, director of R&D at Industrial Light & Magic, talks about the companies ambitious plans to tie its game and movie developers closer together. In an interview with Gamesutra.com he gives an update on the recent development, after most of the Lucas empire underwent restructuring in 2004:

Essentially, the company was rebooting. It was almost like a start-up environment: rethink everything. Rethink the approach to what kinds of games are going to made, which technologies are going to be stressed, and build a technology infrastructure from scratch. That's what you're seeing.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is one of the first products to be born from this new procedure.
