Games Convention moving?Games Convention moving?
Last updated on February 17, 2008 - 03:35.
As can be read on the German website Krawall, Europe´s most important gaming event, the Games Convention, might take place in Leipzig for the last time. It seems that Cologne is about to get the contract, but negotiations aren't over yet. In the past, Frankfurt declared interest as well. For some people the move of the Games Convention was ought to happen, because Leipzig can't hold too many visitors and the traffic system is not the best either. With more and more contributors, the need for a bigger city is growing. If the event will move to another city, the name "Games Convention" might have to change as well, since the city Leipzig holds the rights to that name.

hmm, so it could be a good deal closer for me from the south-west end of germany...
I would like that a lot, but since I'm from Cologne, I'm definitely biased.
"the traffic system is not the best either"
What?! Leipzig lies in the middle of germany and has a very good connection to the highways (A4 & A9). The convention is near the airport and the city has a big train station. What is the point?
The GC is a good brand, so why they should change the city - never change a winnig team.
I never tried it myself, but I heared several reports from people that stated that going there by train was a real pain.
I never had any problems getting there. By train to Frankfurt and then taking an ICE to Leipzig. No problem.
Maybe it depends from which part of Germany you are.
Maybe yes. In newer reports, I read a couple of times that the connection between the airport and the trade show is too long, that it takes an hour or longer to get from one to the other.
Again, I haven't tried it, I'm just reporting what I heard. The same connection in Colgone, takes about 20minutes if you take a cab, or a bit longer if you take the subway.
