Smash Online: The First Free Tennis MMO Goes Open Beta!

Germany —

With Smash Online Gamigo has created the first genuine Tennis MMO that is free of charge and doesn't have to hide behind the likes of Virtua Tennis. Now, Smash Online has entered the Open Beta phase optimal for everyone to give it a try.

Convincing GFX held in anime style, tactical depth, and MMO-RPG elements give Smash Online an addictive touch. In Smash Online you can create your own tennis star that grows with you the more you play.

Earning money, and experience when playing against other players from all over the world in 1:1 or 2:2 matches, or even spending time in the training mode where you can polish up your character stats add much to the MMO-system of Smash Online.

Rankings and Tournaments, as well as a Tennis Club system, will be launched soon according to Gamigo. Regarding the financing of the MMO Gamigo states:

The game is being financed by small Ads (Billboards like on real Tennis courts) as well as the sale of virtual items such as shoes, shirts or equipment. These things enhance your gameplay, but you do not have to buy them in order to have fun or compete against others. Many items may even be bought for the in-game currency which you gain by winning matches.

Gamigo's Smash Online site provides you with a sign-up process that takes less than 15 seconds. Time for some Smash Online?

i'm pretty sure i'd play it - if it only wasn't looking like an anime. :(

I played it for a short while, went through the training and stuff, but I couldn't find any keyboard-settings ingame, and when I wasn't able to reply to a message in the lobby of my first match, I instantly went offline, sending a message with return didn't work, and there was no "send"-button. Not very intuitive. Haven't touched it since.

The buttons are: A (normal), S (high ball) and D (spin). A+S is a long shot whereas S+D is a very short one. The arrow keys are for moving around. For chatting you simply hit the enter key, type your text, and hit enter again.

Hmm interesting, after having entered some text, I hit the enter key multiple times, solo, with CTRL, alt and shift combinations, nothing happend. But so far I was to lazy to deinstall it, so maybe I'll give it a second chance on the weekend.
