Rock Band launched in North America on November 20, and many gamers wondered whether people would be willing to shell out even more cash (beyond the bundle and original game) to download more songs. Some gamers choked at the prices for downloadable songs in Guitar Hero II, but downloadable content appears to be doing well for both Rock Band and Guitar Hero III.

MTV Networks (parent of developer Harmonix) proudly confirmed to everyone that since the game’s launch, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners of Rock Band have downloaded around 2.5 million songs for the game. MTV Networks says that the top-selling premium content is a pack of three Metallica songs.
