MMOG Violence Bubbles Over in RussiaMMOG Violence Bubbles Over in RussiaAccording to this article in Russia Today, the hostilities between two Russian clans in the massively multiplayer online game Lineage II extended beyond virtual conflict to the real world, resulting in the murder of a 33-year-old gamer. The clans apparently met in person a few days before the end of 2007 to resolve their differences in person. Now, a 22-year-old student is wanted by the police for murder, and the family of the victims continue to be harassed by the clan members of the alleged murderer.

ah, I read about that two days ago on gamestar.de
Last year, something similar happened, they say. Just shows that things seem really important for a few persons who invest all their time in it...
I do get the part that a game, an item or your clan could become really important to you, if someone spends hundreds of hours with a game, it's damn important to him, but then again, there is not much in the world that is so important to me that I would kill for it. I would compare it to two rivaling street gangs, their 'territory'; their 'reputation', is very important to them.
