NEC Shows Off Huge, Curved MonitorNEC Shows Off Huge, Curved MonitorNEC is currently showing off a display at Macworld that might be of interest to hardcore PC gamers. In the second half of 2008, NEC plans to start selling a 42” curved CRVD-LMD display that will support 2880x900 resolution. While the product specifications aren’t final, NEC is currently touting the following specs: NEC Model CRVD-42DWX+ Now ask yourself: How many high-end graphics cards would you need to run Crysis on this at a decent frame rate?

Well, there is no price in the specs ;)
But would be really convenient for working as well. Winamp would be as big as the mouse on the photo...
Nope - no price. But I'm guessing this is in that category of "If you have to ask, you can't afford it."
When I first read about this display, I was really disappointed with the resolution, 900 pixels in height? For a price that will probably be in the 5digit-range? 1200 would have been a bare minimum for me.
But what I really don't get, how will games work with this, surely NO game will support this strange resolution, so will the game be displayed in a 1440x900 box in the middle, or will i be stretched? (which would look really really ugly). Does anyone know?
I don't know, but games are getting increasingly flexible about supporting custom resolutions.
I think IL2-Sturmovik would rock on this. 360°View!
I am wondering whether reaction times would be a problem. Not the monitors' or your own reactions of course, you would see opponents in a 3D shooter long before you can see them with a standard widescreen. But turning in that environment (on the x-axis), bringing the opponent inside your crosshairs, could really be a problem (while the y-axis would be roughly the same as most people are used to now).
