Does anyone out there, by any particular chance, know the "Monkey Island"-Games. I know, it's a tough question, it is really a rather not popular game and probably no one has ever played it and no one ever wants to play it, but ...

Bollocks.

EVERYONE KNOWS MONKEY ISLAND. IT'S AWESOME!

And one reason for its greatness has always been the mastermind behind it: Ron Gilbert. And, what can I say: probably it's just a very early April Fool's Joke, but on his homepage there is a countdown running. Which is extremely interesting, because he never made a secret out of the fact that he is currently developing a new kind of game, a mixture of adventure and action-adventure. Will the secret now be lifted before long?

Probably the birth of a new, fantastic franchise? I'm excited. Want to join in?

Whatever the game might be: I hope it's got insult swordfighting in it.

Thanks for pointing that out! The daily countdown says "2", so the news should be out tomorrow :-) My hope that he won't announce only a new website layout.

well, i read about his ambitions to create a new game, but that has been like a year ago (don´t know exactly). so this could be a clear announcement. but what i really want to know is what he planned for the monkey island games before he left lucas arts after the second part^^

According to a user comment on his page: "Listen to his "German TV Interview", around 6:30. The project is an adventure melted with Diablo-style RPG. It's an episodic comedy game (smaller little episodes over time)."
