Command and Conquer 3: MidEast Crisis 2 DetailsCommand and Conquer 3: MidEast Crisis 2 Details

With the release of the Command and Conquer 3 SDK back in August 2007, a healthy number of teams have formed to develop mods for Electronic Arts' RTS. One of the most promising being: MidEast Crisis 2. The total conversion sends you to, if you haven't guessed already, Middle Eastern locations from Beirut to Jerusalem. The gameplay, with three different factions, focuses on occupation warfare within cities using money, fuel and special ammunition as primary resources and will add secondary elements such as embedded reporters, settlements and hacking. Initial work started in early 2007, team leader Bryan Ahonen told GamersGlobal.com. We've been working on the art assets for MEC2 since last spring, and now have the vast majority of them in place. We have pretty much all of the code done and we're now planning to start heavy internal testing of the various factions. And the results are remarkable, as the first media shows. MidEast Crisis 2 is a collaboration between Derelict Studios and Isotx with an active staff of around a dozen people from America, Canada, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Egypt and Croatia. Bryan Ahonen further told us, that development is coming along nicely and gamers seem to be in for a real treat: Even after the initial release we'll have the campaign to complete and we'll carry on working on the balancing, based on feedback from players. [...] Having said that, we would like to release the project as soon as possible (maybe even to the extent of just releasing a single faction demo) to get as many testers as we can on board and really start finding out what people think.
