EVE Online World Expansion: Trinity

Austria —

The next EVE world expansion, called Trinity (which is also the name of the new gfx engine), is going to take place on December 5th.

The expansion's main feature are the updated graphics. They have been rebuild from scratch, which, summed up for all developers involved, took 50 man-years.

The expansion also gives you:

  1. 5 new Tech II ships
  2. hundreds of new agent missions
  3. fleet integration for EVE Voice
  4. speed optimized core

and much more.

If you are interested, you should watch the video interviews with
Art Director Ásgeir Ásgeirsson, Art Producer Benjamin Bohn,
Chief Technical Officer Halldór Guðjónsson,
Executive Producer & Lead Game Designer Nathan Richardsson & Noah Ward.

For even more information, see the Trinity page.

As always the expansion is available to all EVE players free of charge.
The content is already available at the test servers, but you can also try it out 14 days for free.

Images have to be at least 600x250px. I therefore replaced your suggestion with another one. If you feel like having that changed, just let me know.

On the embedded video: I need the complete code with remote path -- this one had flash/intro-teaser.swf as source path.

Yeah, forgot that, could you please provide the min. measurments somewhere on the page when creating a new article as a hint?
Btw, your pic is way better ^^

About the video, sorry, my mistake, here:
<embed src="http://www.eve-online.com/trinity/flash/intro-teaser.swf" quality="high" wmode="transparent" width="499" height="280" name="speedtest" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />

No need to be sorry, vid added. Before you ask: As of now you are no longer able to edit your own news, since I've switched the input format/syntax to full HTML.

Concerning documentation: We're thinking about doing kind of a wiki for exactly this purpose. We'll have more on that in a few days.

Whoa, switch off the edit? Why? What do I do when I make a mistake?

There are different ways to write and format content on this site -- called input formats. The default input format gives you lines breaks, BBCode tags, some other stuff and filters HTML code. To enable video embeds, you'll need to switch to "full HTML" support, which is currently restricted to Admins only -- we mainly use it for the Special articles. This is why the system will prevent users without Admin role to edit content formatted in full HTML -- even if it's their own.

In short: Video support enabled != edit, Video support disabled == edit

There is currently no smart way to cover all sorts of embed/object tags along with their values in restricted BBCode.

Yes I get the input format, what I don't get is why full HTML support conflicts with being able to edit your own news?

I don't see the conflict: By definition you can't add/edit HTML content. Presuming "Edit" would be active for you now, what do you suppose should happen?

Aaah, now I get it.

As of now you are no longer able to edit your own news, since I've switched the input format/syntax to full HTML.

I thought I will never be able to edit my news again because all of their input types has been changed to full HTML.
I associated the uncountable noun "news" with plural....
Well I guess such misapprehensions are bound to happen sooner or later when I'm not a native speaker.

BTW, I totally understand that we are not allowed to type html.

I can't believe that EVE is still around and popular, I think I played it in Betastage, somewhere in early 2003. There must be a lot of die-hard Elite-Fans out there :-)

I think they have about 200k active accounts (not sure of the exact number though)

That's quite impressive, (if you don't compare it to WoW), it's definitely not the most user-friendly game on the market, and it's also 4 years old, the current game I'm playing, called Tabula Rasa might not have half as much players.
