de_dust: Real-Life Art Installation

de-dust-art-project.jpg
United States —

Aram Bartholl of datenform.de did a real-life art installation in Berlin, Germany with boxes taken from Vale Software's tactic shooter Counter-Strike. In his own words:

The crate, which is always the same, is an image map called “de_dust“, one of many changing game scenarios which appear frequently in varying sizes. The desert scenario imitates the appearance of certain countries or regions but remains locationless within its restricted spaces. The game design transforms the wooden crate into a generic, duplicatable and locationless object.
The project website holds a video and some pictures of the art project.

Well maybe there are people out there that haven't heard of it (like me). For me it's news - weird ... but news.
