Space Adventures Looking for Garriott Back-UpSpace Adventures Looking for Garriott Back-UpSpace Adventures announced that it is looking for someone to serve as a back-up crew member for Richard Garriott’s 2008 visit to the International Space Station. All you need is $3 million (around €2 million). The back-up crew member would train alongside Garriott at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training City in Russia’s Star City, and the payment would be credited toward a future orbital flight or ISS visit. Thanks to the training, the back-up would be certified as a “fully trained cosmonaut.”

I checked my pockets, but I just don't have that kind of cash lying around.
I'll do it! Haha.
But isn't that just great -- I do not refer to our empty pockets, but to Richard Garriott spending a substantial part of his own money to do something like that?
Well, it's great for him and I'm sure he's fulfilling a lifelong dream with this, but personally I like much more what John Carmack is doing, he is investing his money in his own company "Armadillo Aerospace" to make (suborbital) Spacetravel affordable for all of us who don't have such deep pockets.
By the time we're going to be 60, people will probably have a life span of 120 - so we're all going to make it! Some day.
(It's like with cell phones: Prices are going to drop)
