Update: Mass Effect already out in the US?Update: Mass Effect already out in the US?

Update: As we have got only one (negative) comment on this matter, and from a trusted source, this incident obviously was an accident. From the three online shops mentioned in the original news, see below, only NewEgg still claims that Mass Effect is available. [Our original News:] Kotaku.com shows a photo of the retail version, too. Can anyone living in the US confirm that Mass Effect is indeed out, at least at Kmart? At the moment, we're betting on an error being made at some outlets, so we'd like to be sure.

No sign around here, although when such a thing happens, usually store management comes down hard and the sales stop immediately.
Thanks, Kyle! Still, you lucky North Americans will get the game three days before us poor Europeans... :-)
And you lucky console owners get the game infinitely longer than us poor PC-gamers...
Well, I can at least read the novel, I guess. ;)
About that PC Version, I won't buy a 360 only for Mass Effect, but are there any rumours that there might be a PC-Version in the far future?
All I read pointed to the fact that it's the 360-only title.
As far as I know, there is as of yet only conjecture, based on what happened with Jade Empire, which was initially also announced as 360-only. Logic would also call for a PC-release, because porting a game from console to PC should cost less than making an entirely new one, and earn similar amounts of money. ;) Especially if Mass Effect is supposed to be the first part of a series. I believe I read that somewhere, correct me if I'm wrong.
But we had to wait quite some time for JE, so here's to hoping that they speed up the process some. And get around to announcing the PC-version.
After the presentation I've seen at E3 this year, I asked Greg Zeschuck whether there will be a PC version or not. He didn't answer me directly, but said "You know, we have a strong track record as a PC games company". With EA as the new owner, chances for a PC version will increase even further. But I also think that, as with Jade Empire, the (likely but not of course yet guaranteed) PC version of Mass Effect will be a long time off.
Waiting always sucks, no argument here, GTA also comes to mind, but IF a PC-Version will come, then I would much prefer that Mass Effect would follow the example of Jade Empire, because they actually made the PC Version even better than the Xbox-Version, and didn't just port it with crappy textures, which happens to o' so many games these days.
