Warhammer Online is Delayed AgainWarhammer Online is Delayed Again
Last updated on November 3, 2007 - 06:13.
During its investor call to discuss Electronic Arts' latest financial results, EA confirmed that Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning has been pushed back into EA's 2009 fiscal year, meaning that the game won’t be released any earlier than April of 2008 (and potentially much later). Following the call, EA Mythic's Mark Jacobs dispatched a general message further explaining the delay. Like most such announcements, Jacobs attributed the delay to EA Mythic's desire to polish the game and add more features, especially for the game's Realm vs. Realm combat system. Jacobs quickly turned the discussion to the game's Beta, which he says will enter a new phase of testing in December. Jacobs also commented briefly on the recent rumors of layoffs at EA Mythic, aggravated by EA's recent confirmation of job cuts. He confirmed that "While we did let several people go from the Warhammer Online team, the number was quite small and their loss had no impact on our development schedule. These layoffs were part of our normal studio operations..."

2009? Are you sure? Can find only sources for 2nd QT of 2008
Oops - thanks for catching the typo. 2009 fiscal year, that starts April 1, 2008. Just got carried away and typed the "9" twice. It's fixed now.
Does anybody else think that EA could not want to have two strong MMOG licences, but rather one superstrong? I am thinking about the MMORPG Bioware Austin is developing, and which could come out in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2009. In order to tackle the market leader (WoW), one mega MMOG could be the better idea. On the other hand, if the yet not announced Bioware MMOG would be in the SF field, there'd still be room for a fantasy MMOG like Warhammer.
