NVidia 8800 GT - More bang for your bucks

Germany —

The new NVidia Geforce 8800 GT is finally not only announced but also becoming available at different retailers. Being the first 65nm GPU from NVidia, the 8800 GT is featuring 512 MB of DDR3 RAM and clock rates as high or even higher than a 8800 GTX.

The card itself is priced pretty aggressively at $199 - $249 but performs much closer to the GTX than to the GTS in most benchmarks. Considering performance in combination with pricing, the 8800 GT looks like the sweet spot if you are considering buying a DirectX 10 capable card now.

This card looks VERY nice.

I'm a little bit disappointed because I bought a 8800GTS with 640MB 2-3 months ago, but never mind. I'm happy that the card isn't always faster than mine.

Good Job Nvidia!

I actually just sold my 8800 GTS 640MB today and am getting a 8800 GT next week... :-D I got as much money for my used 8800 GTS 640MB as a 8800 GT costs so it was a no brainer for me.

I will keep you updated if i am happy with the exchange...

You can actually keep doing that all the time if you don't mind the constant reselling!
Years ago I sold my 2GTI and got a 4400TI for almost the same money. Then I sold my 4400TI and got me a 4800SE for the exact same money. Then I sold my 4800SE and got a 5900XT and made a profit!
So yeah this helped me not getting a bad conscience as I bought a (passive cooled) 7600GT for 130€ a year ago. I wonder if I could pull that off one more time. But my new card hast to be rather silent :/
