Wii the Least Used Console?Wii the Least Used Console?
Last updated on April 8, 2009 - 11:39.
The entertainment research company Nielsen has now released usage statistics of the present console generation. The data shows how much a platform is actually used, based on numbers like average playtime sessions or average days used per month. The survey revealed that Nintendo´s Wii is the least used console. It has not only the lowest percentage of active users and the shortest average playtime sessions, but also the lowest number of average daily play sessions. The Wii even showed the second-lowest number of average days used per month. Sony´s PlayStation 2 remains the most-played platform on the market. Active users who have a PlayStation 3 or an Xbox 360 play twice as much as users owning a Wii. You have to keep two things in mind, though. First of all, the usage statistics are not just based on gaming, but also on time spent for non-gaming activities like watching movies. Also, the Wii has a huge amount of casual gamers, who are not likely to play as often as core players.

Owning both a Wii and a XBOX 360, I can support that. Playing Wii Fit for more than an hour is ... stretching. Similar to Ubisofts Fitness Coach for the Wii, if I do that more than 45 minutes I am soaked in sweat and exhausted. On the other hand, I can play Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey for hours on the XBOX.
QED?
Posted with a smile.
Well, that´s one huge factor. I used to own a Wii, and with all the movement it´s not that relaxing really. I mean, it´s okay with games like Zelda, but if you´re actually playing those casual / party games, then you definitely have to move quite a lot... even if you don´t get exhausted, there´s just some different "magic" in lying on the couch and playing video games.
Im considering to buy a Wii or Xbox . For me its way better hour of using Wii fit , instead of going to the gym. I dont think the exhaustion is a problem , you can always change the game. In other point , there are much better games for Xbox than Wii.
Hard decision to make
