The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), a UK organization that recognizes and promotes "excellence in the fields of the moving image" has honored members of the television and film industries with fellowships, but has never honored a member of the game industry. Until now.

The first video game mogul to be honored with a BAFTA fellowship is Will Wright. According to the Chairman of BAFTA, Hilary Bevan Jones, "Will's immense, creative body of work and his continued contribution to the industry make him a most worthy recipient of the Fellowship and being such a pioneer, we are thrilled that he will be the first person to receive this honour."
