Mortal Kombat Developers Looking for New Publisher?

As Videogamer.com reports, the developing team behind the Mortal Kombat series wishes to leave its pubslisher Midway. Allegedly, the team is already in talks with others publishers.

It is claimed that the Mortal Kombat team wants to leave Midway, because they did not give out any bonus payments for the success of the recent release of Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe.

Also, the developers are supposed to have become very frustrated of how Midway handles its Bankruptcy filing, especially seeing that they have delivered a game that sells very well. Other Midway games, like the finally released Wheelman, have been delayed various times and therefore cost a lot of money.

Midway commented:

Midway is not refusing to pay out those bonuses. It's the unsecured creditors committee that is refusing to allow us to pay them. They're the ones holding that up.

To add insult to injury, Mortal Kombat 9 is supposed to be in development already. The game could be affected considerably, if the team behind it would really leave Midway.
