As Videogamer reports, Konami has now revealed the development of a new Silent Hill game for Nintendo´s Wii.

The interesting bit is that we´re actually not talking about a port here, but about a new version of the very first game in the series.

Producer Tomm Hulett said:

This is a re-imagining of the first Silent Hill. It’s not a remake or a port. That’s an important distinction. It really feels like a new game.

The game is called Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. The game will feature the old characters, but they play different roles and things will also happen in a different order.

However, not everything changes. Players are still controlling Harry Mason, who is still looking for his daughter. But other elements have been "twisted to betray your expectations".

The player´s actions are supposed to have a real effect on how the game continues, i.e. the title will constantly monitor your behaviour, which affects which characters you meet when or which scenes you witness or not.

The character is obviously controlled via the Wii Remote, which will be used to directly interact with the environment. For instance, the puzzles are based on that idea. "You’re not just hitting buttons to choose things,” said Hulett. He continued by saying that puzzle solutions will be located in the vicinity. So there won´t be the series notorious long ways.

Another huge evolvement is that there won´t be any more locked doors that just don´t open. In Shattered Memories there will be a way through every locked door.
