AICN managed to pull Return to Castle Wolfenstein movie writer and director Roger Avary aside to talk about the big screen adaption of id Softwares shooter. Castle Wolfenstein is a given -- a primary character of the film, even. Our story will take us to a variety of surrounding locations, however. And it will, of course, take place during WW2 in the European theater of operations. -- Roger Avary Avary goes on to explain, that he prefers to write on location and therefore will head for Castle Wewelsburg, Germany. The castle was the ritual headquarters for Heinrich Himmlers SS during the Third Reich. While main character B.J. Blazkowicz has yet to be casted, Avary pictures the protagonist to look similar to what the Return to Castle Wolfenstein box art (pictured above) depicts. As for all Wolfenstein enthusiasts, who are getting their hopes up to see some of the more well known freakish game characters: I'm attempting to strike a balance between the over-the-top elements of the Wolfenstein franchise with a certain quotient of reality. -- Roger Avary There is no given release window for the movie yet, but IMDB lists it for 2010.
