This weekend, Konami held the finals in their European Pro Evolution Soccer Championship in the Olympic stadium in Sevilla, Spain. The version played was PES 6 on the PS2, the games were one-on-ones between the best 27 players from 14 European countries. Not all our readers might know about the extreme soccer rivalry between UK and Germany, but after the latest real-life defeat by the German national team in England, the Britons have now been far superior in the virtual world: While last year's champ, Mike "El Matador" Linden from Germany, was beaten by 12-year-old Sebastian from Poland in the quarter finals, both British players fought their way right through to the finals, beating the Polish guy and the second German, Matthias "Gool" Winkler. The new champion's name is Rob McClean, after a crushing 6:1 victory against his countryman. McClean has been the UK Champion for Pro Evolution Soccer in 2007.
