From today, the new PS3 firmware 2.60 is downloadable for all European PS3 owners by choosing "system update" from the PS3 menu. The main new features are:

1. Photo Gallery - which sorts photos not only by date or event, but also by the number of persons in the picture.
2. DivX 3.11 support - good news for everyone using the PS3 as a media center (and something which the Xbox 360 already was capable of). Of course, this function most probably will not be used so much for "funny amateur videos" as Sony presumes in the press release, but for illegal copies of movies.
3. PSN without registration PS3 owners can now visit the rather unstructured PlayStation Store without first registering. You need to register when you want to buy something there, of course
