Although information about various Battlefield 3 details were not meant to be given to investors until December of this year, Digital Battle reports now of a tipster sending them a three page document which describes basic features. First of all, the release of BF 3 is scheduled for late 2008. A public beta is planned to come out Summer 2008, following an official announcement combined with a teaser trailer in January 2008.

One map is mentioned by name, called Baghdad Burning, and most of the maps (only 8 of them supposedly are to be shipped with the game) should be urban and based in Middle East. So it appears BF 3 is returning to the modern setting of Battlefield 2 with, at least at first, only two playable factions, NATO and Middle East Coalition.

The report lists some in-game and hardware details, e.g. a so called "Frostbite DX" engine, an auto software updater, the support of Windows Vista and OS X, voice over IP, and extensive clan support.

Electronic Arts reaction to the rumor is "no comment".
