A couple of minutes ago, id Software's new title Enemy Territory: Quake Wars has become available for download for North American customers via Steam, Valve's online distribution platform. The game has been available for downloads from outside North America since October 4th. The obvious reason for the U.S. delay is that publisher Activision wanted to have one week's head start in selling the boxed version, beginning on the 2nd of October. The download price is about the same as in retail, $49,95. The Battlefield clone pitches Human Soldiers against the alien Strogg. Although using the Quake franchise, Quake Wars has been developed by British studio Splash Damage.
