Less Bureaucracy with the Blizzard AccountLess Bureaucracy with the Blizzard Account

As many gamers may have noticed already, Blizzard is going to update their Battle.net to version 2.0 with many changes, once Starcraft 2 gets released. More interesting than the mere update is a mentioned Blizzard account. With this Blizzard account, the users will be enabled to use just one account for all the Blizzard games (Warcraft, Diablo, Starcraft). So you will not have to remember possibly different log-in information. Players of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King already knew about the Blizzard account, as they were asked to agree on the matter after the installation of the game. This is no attack on the news in any way. But, hey, is end of 2009 not a little late for such a basic must-have function?
I would assume that Blizzard is this late with such a feature because their only current game (WoW) had it's own login and weren't running on Battle.net. When their last wave of games came out (Starcraft, Diablo2, Warcraft3) you could very well play them offline or on LAN without the need for an Internet Connection.
But I assume with Starcraft 2 and Diablo3 this will change, and hence the need for a global login.
Well, you might have a point there. Especially thinking about Blizzard games. I know a couple of people who are not just playing one game of them, but two or even three kind of simultaneously. It should not have been arduous to include this in the present battle.net. But whatever, I just though it was interesting, so I posted it^^
