Little Big Planet Delayed Due to Qur'an References (Update)

Update: The newest patch v1.02 removes the Qur'an lyrics in Little Big Planet, and thus is capable of putting endless controversies and discussions to a rest. The patch is already available for all European LBP gamers.

Very bad news for all creative PlayStation 3 owners: Little Big Planet, the first game by British developer Media Molecule and the most anticipated PS3 game this autumn, has been delayed worldwide by some days. The new release date has been slated for October 27th due to some religious references in the game.

Apparently a forum user pointed Sony towards a licensed music track in the game that holds some passages of Qur'an verses mixed with pop music, which could be considered offensive to some Muslims. Regardless of the fact that there are already copies of the game on some retail shelves (see UK), Sony tried to pull the emergency brake nonetheless to avoid a religious controversy to make the round prior to the launch of Little Big Planet. The official statement reads:

Patrick Sebold on PlayStation.Blog wrote:
During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologize for any offense that this may have caused.

We will begin shipping LittleBigPlanet to retail in North America the week of October 27th. Sorry for the delay, and rest assured, we are doing everything we can to get LittleBigPlanet to you as soon as possible.

Yeah, top news again. Sorry, but I have to celebrate that a bit. Well, it's quite interesting that Sony postpones the release of an absolute top game, because of these qur'an expressions. Anyway, does anyone know them?

Quite a strong reaction by the publisher, but maybe the only choice nowadays.
Btw. if this in his hand on the picture is a Qur'an, that could be an offence already...

The figure in the picture is obviously a sacrilegious depiction of Mohammed.

This really troubles me, a forum user posts something and EA changes the Soundtrack? And what's wrong with quoting the Qur'an in the first place? Our culture is saturated with stories and quotes from the bible.

I just don't see why this would be offensive to anyone, or even more why Sony would think that it could be.
