Command & Conquer Tiberium Cancelled

Command & Conquer Tiberium Cancelled

TIBERIUM.JPG
Germany —

On December 18, 2007, we wrote in an earlier news about C&C Tiberium:

It's official now: More than six years after the release of C&C Renegade in February 2002, EA plans to release a new tactical shooter in the C&C universe: Tiberium will be a first person shooter with a heavy tactical element.

Originally planned for Fall 2008, then rescheduled for 2010, Tiberium will never see the light of day: The second fps in the C&C universe (the first one was Renegade), which was in development at EA Los Angeles, was cancelled by EA's headquarters. The reason for this decision was the game's qualitiy. Executive Producer Mike Verdu admitted that EALA was "not able to deliver this product to an appropriate level of quality". It seems that parts of the developing team will work on other EA projects after Tiberium's end.

Tiberium would have been an ambitious, Commmand&Conquer based, tactical shooter. It's always sad to see a game project cancelled, especially if you think about all the efforts the developers put into the game, never suspecting this might happen. So Rest In Peace.

I never liked C&C, but that's shocking me a bit.

I liked the C&C series very much, including Renegade. I'm sad! BTW, +20 EXP for making First News with your news :-)

Thanks. You enhanced it a lot!

I had actually completely forgotten that this existed, but I can faintly remember that I thought their ideas for weapons were rather silly - no specifics come to mind, though. Well, too bad. I hope those "other EA projects" include a decent scifi shooter.
