Xbox 360: Price drops 10 to 20% in Europe from FridayXbox 360: Price drops 10 to 20% in Europe from Friday

On September 19, Microsoft will drop the recommended prices for her console range in Europe, following price drops in North America and Japan. Interestingly, plans for a European price drop were denied by Microsoft UK just two weeks ago. The main console, Xbox 360 with a 60 GB hard drive and a wireless controller, will cost 239,99 Euro or 169,99 British Pound. The Xbox 360 Arcade will retail for 179,99 Euro (129,99 GBP), and the Xbox Elite will cost 299,99 Euro (229,99 GBP). That's a price drop of about 20 percent for the Elite version and about 10 percent for the two other versions. This is the second major price drop for Xbox 360 in Europe since March 14th, 2008, when prices came down by 30 percent. Microsoft Entertainment's Chris Lewis said he's happy that Microsoft is the first manufacturer to offer a next-gen console for well below 200 Euro, and that it will allow Microsoft to better reach the casual gamers market. In fact, the technologically inferior Wii still retails at 249,99 Euro, and you have to invest close to 400 Euro to get a PS3 with 80 GB and a wireless controller.

Xbox is reaching a price where I am finally tempted. I own a Wii and do not use it much anymore, and PS2 is getting old...
I planned on finally buying a PS3 in the next couple of months (I play on PC, PS2 and Wii). But paying close to double the amount than for the Xbox 360 is starting to look ridiculous. And I am not a Xbox fan, believe me, I don't have one (yet?).
I think that this could well be it. I might not be strong enough to resist the urge to buy a XBox 360 anymore.
wow, i didn´t like the xbox too much yet. but now it´s only marginally more expensive than the nintendo ds... which is really astounding! i like what microsoft did here. and sony is forced to get another price cut soon, because no one in his right mind would buy a ps3 now, especially as almost EVERY game that´s available for the ps3 is also available in exactly the same form on the xbox... good one
