Alone in the Dark: 360 patch only if press likes PS3 version?

Alone in the Dark: 360 patch only if press likes PS3 version?

Eden Games' Alone in the Dark for the Xbox 360 and PC has received mixed reviews. With some more months of final polish the survival experience could have easily gained the status of a truly memorial rebirth of Alone in the Dark . But the rushed release showed its flaws: sloppy controls, camera problems and bugs still plague the Xbox 360 and PC version of the game. Eden Games would like to release a patch for the Xbox 360 version, dependent on how the PS3 version is perceived by the press. The emphasis is on "would like," though. Here a quick heads-up:

Eden Studios is now finalizing the PS3 port of their Alone in the Dark. It seems that with the extra months of time the devs at Eden Studios really heard the review-uproar and fixed a massive amount of the things that went wrong with the game -- but only for their overdue PS3 port at first. For once, PS3 owners can feel happy about having to wait for more than half a year before a game gets ported to their system. This way, they now gain a more complete Alone in the Dark that could really be worth their time.

But what about the Xbox 360 version, you may ask. Eurogamer not only reported that the preview PS3 version of AitD didn't only play way better but also that a 360 patch was in the making. However, game designer Emile More in an interview with MTV Multiplayer states that such a said patch can't be promised yet.

We're trying to do it. It's technically complicated. The size of a patch is very limited by Microsoft. So if we do a patch it would only be about the new control and the new camera.

We can't promise it because it is still early. We are finishing this [PS3] version first. I guess it also depends on the success of this version. If people review it again and said it's not worth it ... *laughs*

Xbox 360 gamers can only hope for the best, and expect still play the worst: The driving scene, the corrupted-root farming in the Spectral Vision level, and the camera & controls were really cutting the game where it could have shone. The PS3 fix list really reads like some patch notes though, directly taken from what the AitD reviewers (and gamers!) didn't like hated about an otherwise truly innovative game. If I may add one thing to the list of wanted changes: the forklift level also sucked ...

I'm actually ashamed about this title. I read hundreds of game related news a day, I write for a gaming news site and I'm subscribed to two game magazines. So one would think I should know, but maybe I just didn't listen. I thought the way you can combine items and how the inventory works sounded so cool, that I blindly went ahead and threw 45€ out of the window bought the game.
I played it for 10 Minutes, was shocked by the controls and how bad the camera was and never touched the game again. As I said, it's embarrassing.

I also bought the game for my 360. Actually, it's not this bad on the 360. The GFX engine is quite good, and so are the ideas in the game. I played up to the point with the corrupted root farming where I lost interest. The game is playable (and fun) in its current state--but maybe not for too many people.

Well, I guess the camera and controls were designed with a pad in mind, it doesn't translate very well to the PC.

In my eyes, it's a little hypocritical to say that they will not be able to bring all the changes to the 360 due to Microsoft's limit for patch sizes, as all the other new content could easily be made available as a free DLC.

While playing through the first half of the game i was really enjoying it. I started to get a little annoyed when you have to destroy lots of roots of evil. But i thought to myself at least the ending would be good.
