Too gory: Dead Space banned in three countries (Update)

Too gory: Dead Space banned in three countries (Update)

Germany —

Update: According to German game magazine GameStar EA denied that Dead Space had been banned in Germany. The game is still in evaluation process of the German software rating organization USK. [Thanks Knurrunkulus]

After the release date for both console versions (PS3 & Xbox 360) have been pushed up again and again (most current release date: October 14th), EA's Dead Space gets eventually hit with the ban hammer--admittedly, to no one's surprise. In China, Japan, and Germany the game will be banned because of too explicit, gory content. We doubt that Electronic Arts will do without the sales shares from these lucrative markets. Thus, it's likely that EA is going to release a censored version with modified--less gory--content.

According to GameStar, EA themselves have pointed out that Dead Space is not yet banned in Germany: http://www.gamestar.de/news/pc/action/1948825/dead_space.html. The USK, according to this news, is still testing the game. I'm not sure about China and Japan. But still: We all know it is going to get banned here as well, don't we?

Good thing that there is Amazon UK. I am looking forward to Dead Space, but I'm certainly not going to play it in a censored version. I'm not in the least what people would call a "gorehound", but: What would Dead Space be without its horror? A joke, wouldn't it?
