Valve's promise: Left 4 Dead to be much more console-friendly

Team Fortress 2 for the Xbox 360 (that came along with the Orange Box) is, in contrast to its PS3 counterpart, a great port of its own but one that still lacks severe support in form of new content (e.g. the "Heavy Update" that PC gamers already got long time ago). Even though Valve has more or less promised to release a huge TF2 title update by the end of the year (for a few Microsoft points), Xbox players world-wide still suffer from hideously laggy TF2 matches. Valve wants to make it better this time, and takes a new approach towards the console support for their upcoming coop zombie shooter. Left 4 Dead is to become much more console-friendly--with dedicated servers, and more DLC on the Xbox 360.

The PC and Xbox 360 exclusive shooter that is based on team combat against hordes of zombies gets a special console treatment for the Xbox 360.

  1. Left 4 Dead will run fully on dedicated servers via Xbox Live
  2. Splitscreen mode support for off- and online play (with the option to slice the screen either horizontally or vertically)
  3. Much faster release of downloadable content (new weapon "flamethrower," and campaign elements already in planning)
  4. The Xbox 360 version of Left 4 Dead will be much more attuned to the playing environment of a console: unobtrusive auto-aiming, button to perform a quick 180° turn, small changes to the enemy A.I. (zombies will attack you from behind less frequently)

Are you ready for some cooperative zombie slaughtering on November 20? Left 4 Dead will be waiting for you on both the PC and Xbox 360.
