Blizzard and AMD ATI Radeon announce Partnership

Germany —

While you see the "The Way it's Meant to be Played - NVIDIA"-logo quite all the time when you start a game, ATI, the big opponent of NVIDIA didn't have such alliances that often.

Now the AMD webpage informs us that AMD and Blizzard Entertainment® Join Forces in Strategic Global Agreement. Here is the press release.
The first important date for that collaboration is October the 10th, when the BlizzCon 2008 in Anaheim will show Blizzards progress in Wrath of the Lich King, Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3.
Blizzard games are not exactly known for their state-of-the-art graphics, but still...

AMD is committed to helping PC gamers around the world enjoy The Ultimate Visual Experience.

There were some ATI-powered games though, among them Half-Life 2, that still run better on ATI (now AMD) graphic cards.

Thanks. Changed it.

I couldn't remember a game, and Starkiller agreed, so i thought there were no games for Ati.

It's true, there were a handful of Games supported by ATI in the past years, but compared to the amount of partnerships NVidia had it was only laughable, so it's about time they get their ass in gear.

They should also start making better drivers. I remember that on my old PC (Radeon 9800 Pro), Battlefield 2 was playable at medium details. After having to reinstall windows and getting the lattest drivers, I had to reduce the settings. Didn't think much of it back then, and thought I had just remembered the previous settings incorrectly.
But recently the graphics card in my new PC croaked, I fired up the old one again, installed the latest drivers, and now the game's barely playable in singleplayer (on the lowest display settings), with MP being completely impossible. I just hope my replacement geforce arrives this week... ;)

True, the main reason I'm not buying ATI is their unstable drivers over the years. When you play online and your friends keep crashing, you start to wonder.
