Runic Games: Flagship members form new studioRunic Games: Flagship members form new studio

It seems like every year there has to be one rather sad story about development studios going bankrupt, and this year, this story features the Flagship Studios in the leading role. It's the studio that was meant to be a big competition for Blizzard's Diablo franchise, but the bar for Hellgate: London was set a bit too high. When the game was released, it didn't fulfill all the promises that had been made. Soon there were rumors about bad working climate, about staff leaving in droves and then, all of a sudden, it was all over. But: what would happen to the upcoming Mythos that had been in development for a long time now? No one knew. But as can now be said, some former members of Flagship Studios might have some interest to go on with developing and polishing this game, because it was very recently announced that the new studio Runic Games has been formed. Founding members are Travis Baldree, who was the Project Director for Mythos at Flagship's Seattle studio and Max Schaefer (see header picture), Executive Producer, who is by now founding the third studio in his career (the first two were Blizzard North and Flagship Studios). And here's what they want to do. The former Flagship Studios Seattle team is proud to announce their reformation as Runic Games (www.runicgames.com). As the team responsible for the highly-anticipated Mythos at Flagship Studios, Runic Games intends to continue to use their expertise in the Action-RPG MMO genre to create the best games in this market. The first announcements about Runic Games forthcoming projects will be made during the next week. We very much hope that one of those projects will indeed be Mythos, but much will be dependent on the minds of HanbitSoft, who are by now the owners of the former Flagship IPs.

We knew this was a long way coming, but now it's official. I would like to see Mythos in the future tho, so if anybody will pick up the torch, I won't complain.
Let's hope Runic will live longer than its "Mum". And I thought Flagship could become an important and successful new developer...
