Heavy Rain: New screenshots pouring down

Heavy Rain: New screenshots pouring down

Most probably, this is not the big news for you that it is for me, because after all we are only dealing with a bunch of new screenshots here. But: I am probably the biggest fan of the game Fahrenheit alive and this is why I simply can't wait for the next game from developer Quantic Dream, which runs under the name Heavy Rain. For a long time, we haven't heard anything about this game, which is, most probably, exclusive to the PS3 by now.

The very first screenshots were focusing on some very detailed shots of faces, and although we can now also see an enraged man with a knife in his hand and scenes where the female protagonist is driving a motorcycle, the screenshot that most easily gets our attention is, once again, a screenshot of a face with raindrops pouring down. We wouldn't want to go this far to say that it looks absolutely realistic, but it definitely is astounding.

Head over to Ripten or Spilzonen to click through all the screenshots currently available.
And let us all hope that on the games convention in Leipzig even more new details will pour down on us.

Indigo Prophecy - reminds me of really exhausting action sequences ...

Yes, they were stupid, but the game around them! Such a dense atmosphere! So much suspense! The adult theme of the whole game! I just loved it. Oh, and the action scenes were playable -- if you connected a gamepad to your PC (or played it on PS2).

I even had no problems with playing the action sequences via the keyboard. And I liked them. No, I really did. I know I'm one of very few people that liked them. And Erik, you're so right. The atmosphere was priceless. And the guitar scene (trying to win your girlfriend back) was one of the best scenes I've ever seen in a game. It had its flaws, yes. But I couldn't have cared less.

The action scenes were great, and if you set the difficulty to easy they didn't detract from the story in any way.

I must confess, sometimes I'm still scared of looking into the bathroom mirror after that scene in the apartment... ^^

I hope Quantic Deams will show more of their new (not really) game at Games Convention. It could become something special.

It's definitely a looker.

As for Fahrenheit, I have to admit that I never really played it, I wanted to, I at least wanted to try it because it sounded so radically different. So I borrowed it from a friend and installed it, but there was a moment in the tutorial where you had to press two buttons in a certain rhythm (in a gym hall or something, pulling up your knees or whatever) that was so horrible frustrating (after 20 times of someone telling me that it wasn't right and that I should try again), that I deinstalled the game and never looked back. But when reading about it and now while listening to you guys, it again sounds more like a very well written story for a movie, or a crazy good book, but not like a game. Flo went as far as saying that the gameplay was just a mere distraction to the story. So is it a very good story you have fond memories of, or is it also a game?

The story as such isn't very original, but it isn't bad either. The atmosphere, however, is excellent. And in the later stages, when you've got used to the reaction tests and all that, the gameplay becomes really immersive. So they're actually fond memories of the atmosphere. And I still regret having played some scenes at night. ;)

I had a few difficulties with the controls, too, at first. But those were mostly due to weird button assignments the game made when I plugged my gamepad in. After adjusting the controls a bit, and getting run over by the car in the tutorial ten times, I got the hang of it - and Fahrenheit was essentially the only game I ever really used my gamepad for.

Maybe I should give Fahrenheit a try then, it's only 10€ now.

But it sounds like it's way easier with a Gamepad, any idea if you can use the PS3 controller on the PS3? The System lists the device when I plug it into the USB, but it's not doing anything when I try to calibrate it.

There should have been more freedom in Fahrenheit, also the Actionsequences destroyed my feeiling of identity with the main charkters. Don't like the quicktime events, they can't deliver a feeling of control.
But Fahrenheit was a intresting experience. Sadly I don't own a PS3, I would have given it a try if they made some changes and adjustments to the Gameplay ...

But the Ending of Fahrenheit was a bit strange was ist, with that "you know what if you played it" suddenly popping up.
